FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Our opening date is fall 2024.

  • Right now, we are in the process of researching several possibilities. Our goal is to secure a location that is centrally located in Missoula and large enough to house the school for the first five years.

  • Our eventual goal is to have approximately 120 students in grades 9-12. This intentionally-small size will allow us to maintain a low student-teacher ratio and our culture of community. In its first year, each grade level will have about 15-20 students.

  • CFP’s unique framework of educational excellence, place-based education, and a culture of community makes it an appealing place for creative and energetic teachers. We’ve already had teacher interest from a variety of disciplines, and we anticipate opening with a full slate of qualified and experienced educators.

  • No, CFP is not a public charter school.

  • While exact tuition for our first year has not yet been set, it will be in line with other private schools in the area.

  • Specific information about the application process is available on our Admissions page. Families interested in learning more could also complete the Prospective Student Form or contact us at clarkforkprepmt@gmail.com

  • Clark Fork Prep athletes will have a variety of sports options to choose from. CFP students can participate on the various club teams available to Missoula teenagers, and CFP plans to offer some non-competitive extracurricular activities. Thanks to a 2021 MT state law, private school students will also be eligible to join the extracurricular teams of their neighborhood public schools. CFP’s dismissal time is designed to allow students full participation in MCPS activities.

  • No. CFP serves high school students, while Clark Fork School primarily runs a preschool and elementary after school programs. The two schools are not connected, but you can find information about Clark Fork School here.

  • As a student in CFP’s first classes, you get to help set the school’s course! You have the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Clark Fork Prep–like choosing the school mascot and school colors, brainstorming fun traditions (a float down the Clark Fork? Big Dipper on the first day of school?), and offering ideas for our Explorations classes.
